The World Alliance Against Antibiotic Resistance (WAAAR)

The World Alliance Against Antibiotic Resistance (WAAAR) was founded in 2012 to raise as much awareness as possible about the urgency and serious risk posed by antimicrobial resistance, as well as to co-ordinate international dialogue about implementing effective solutions to this growing problem.

WAAAR is headed by Dr Jean Carlet, a physican specializing in intensive care and antibiotic resistance, who was also Head of the French Government’s Task force on AMR, established by President Hollande. The organization has over 700 members from 55 different countries who between them represent all of the key players in the healthcare sector and is supported by 140 learned societies across the world.
